A police officer has been stabbed in Kent and is in a serious condition in hospital.

Kent Police said the attack happened when officers attended an address in Albion Place, Maidstone, at around 8pm on Thursday.

The officer was airlifted to a London hospital with stab wounds.

He remains in a serious but stable condition, police said.

A 48-year-old man from Maidstone has been arrested and remains in custody.
